Whether you're applying for a job, accessing local services, or just trying to register online, SafeGuarden gives you a digital identity that belongs to you
A SafeGuarden Digital ID is a secure, electronic version of your personal identity documents.
You can get one free within three months of your Spotlite pre-employment check.
Instead of carrying physical documents like a passport or driving licence, you can use your smartphone to prove who you are.
You will be able to use your SafeGuarden ID once the government’s Information Gateway passes into law later this year. This legislation provides a legal framework for digital identity verification and sharing your data with others under your control.
Key Features:
- Proof of Age and participation in local loyalty schemes
- Data Privacy Controls so know who has access to your data and why
- Access to Community Hubs for digital skills training and community outreach
- Revenue Sharing Model returning profits to the community
Your Data, Your Community, Your Power
We are currently piloting the SafeGuarden Data Cooperative approach from our Digital Hub in Leigh, Greater Manchester and with Wirral CVS. The pilot is designed to help residents take control of their personal information by creating a secure digital identity and data wallet. This initiative aims to make it easier for individuals to access jobs, services and support – whether online of in person. The pilot is part of a broader effort to ensure that digital identification systems are inclusive and accessible to all, especially as the UK government plans to introduce digital ID services later this year. By participating in our pilots, you will be helping to inform and shape the digital future that works for everyone.
Here is what we are looking to test and learn in Leigh, Wigan and Wirral:
Empowering Digital Inclusion
Digital inclusion means everyone can access and benefit from digital tools. Creating digital hubs in shopping centres, libraries and high streets helps people learn, connect, and engage with services. Through schools and community centres, outreach programmes can be especially designed to reach those who are often over looked.
Offering loyalty rewards and discounts for shopping locally generates community cohesion and delivers value back to residents.
For greater growth, a SafeGuarden Franchise creates a locally governed mutually own data utility for your community. Our forebears did this with Building Societies – why can’t we do the same with data?
Creating Local Solutions for Global Challenges
SafeGuarden isn’t just about providing digital tools; it’s about empowering individuals with real ownership of their personal information, giving them control and choice in how it’s used.
It means you can save your data once, reuse it securely, and decide who sees what – whether you’re applying for work, proving your ID, or accessing support.
And because SafeGuarden is evolving into a data cooperative, you’re not just a user – you’re a co-owner. That means your voice helps shape how the system works, your rights are protected collectively, and any value created from shared data flows back into your community.
This isn’t just digital identity – it’s digital dignity, shared power, and a future where tech works for all of us
